  • Shop Local, Support Local: Story of Don't Be Chy Boutique and why community is everything!

Hey!!  We're happy you stopped in!

As small boutique owners in a small town in Northern Alberta, we never fully understood the challenges and rewards of running a business. But since we started Don't Be Chy Photography in 2015 and scaled up to open up a brick and mortar store during the pandemic in early 2020, we quickly found that our boutique requires dedication, hard work, and a willingness to adapt to changing markets and customer needs. But the rewards of seeing customers happy and satisfied with the products and services we offer make it all worth it.

One of the most important aspects of our business is providing exceptional customer service. We believe that every customer should feel valued and respected, and we strive to create a positive, welcoming environment in our boutique. We take the time to listen to our customers and understand their needs, and we do our best to provide personalized recommendations and solutions for everything we can.  From our salon customers needing to revive their hair back to being stunning to providing the perfect gift for every family member.

But providing great customer service isn't just about making sales – it's about building trust and loyalty among our customers. When customers have a positive experience in our boutique, they are more likely to come back and recommend us to their friends and family. And in a small town like ours, word-of-mouth is critical to our success.

We also believe in supporting our local community and other businesses. As a small business, we know how important it is to have the support of our neighbors and fellow entrepreneurs. We are proud to offer products and services that are made locally, and we enjoy collaborating with other businesses to provide unique and exciting experiences for our customers and staff.

For example, we recently challenged the town and other business to a Christmas Decorating showdown. This has been a great way for us to offer some friendly competition, and it has also helped to bring some social media attention to other business in town.

Running a small business in these times isn't easy. There are always challenges and obstacles to overcome, and it can be difficult to compete with larger, more established businesses. That's why it's important for us to stay focused on our goals and values, and to continue providing the best possible customer service and support for our community and now online with our new Shopify Store.

We are grateful for the support we have received from our customers, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community for years to come. So if you're ever in our town, please stop by our boutique and say hello – we'd love to see you!
